Fort Bend County is now offering COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 5 to 11. The vaccine update was announced at the Nov. 9 Fort Bend County Commissioners Court meeting by Dr. Jacquelyn Johnson-Minter, the director of health and human services for Fort Bend County.
This comes on the heels of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorizing the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for ages 5 to 11 on Oct. 29, as reported by Community Impact Newspaper. Since the national announcement, area providers have started to vaccinate children, Johnson-Minter said.
“Our staff received our training from the Texas Department of State Health Services, from Pfizer representatives and staff from Texas Children’s Hospital throughout the week last week,” Johnson-Minter said.
The rollout began Nov. 9 at the Rosenberg Annex Clinic, located at 4520 Reading Road, Rosenberg.
