The number of daily confirmed positive coronavirus cases in the Katy area grew from 1,245 on June 7 to 1,252 on June 8, according to data available at 4:10 p.m. June 8.

This data reflects seven ZIP codes in the Katy area from Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties’ respective COVID-19 information dashboards. The total number of tests administered in each ZIP code was not immediately available.

Only Harris and Waller counties are providing data on recoveries, deaths and active cases at the ZIP code level. However, Waller County's webpage has not updated its case count data since June 1.

Below is a breakdown of the coronavirus case data for Katy’s three counties. Note that of the seven ZIP codes, 77449, 77084 and 77094 fall fully in Harris County. ZIP code 77441 falls fully in Fort Bend County. However, ZIP code 77493 falls within Harris and Waller counties; ZIP code 77450 falls within Harris and Fort Bend counties; and ZIP code 77494 falls within Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties.

Harris County


The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the six Katy-area ZIP codes in Harris County has reached 1,080, according to data available at 4:10 p.m. June 8 on the Harris County 2019 novel coronavirus dashboard.

Active cases stand at 450, per June 8 data. This is an increase of one from data reported June 7.

Recovered cases, meanwhile, grew by eight to 621, per June 9 data.


Over the weekend June 6-7, Harris County reported a new death in ZIP code 77493. This brings the total number of deaths in Katy-area ZIP codes in Harris County to 9.

This is the first new death Harris County has reported in the Katy area since April 20, when it began providing data at the ZIP code level.

Countywide, Harris County has a total of 14,918 confirmed cases, of which 5,692 have recovered and 262 have died. There are 8,964 active cases in the county.

Fort Bend County




Fort Bend County’s Community Impact Dashboard is reporting only the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic on the ZIP code level.


According to data available at 4:10 p.m. June 8, the county is reporting a total of 166 confirmed cases in the Katy area. This reflects no day-over-day change.

Countywide, Fort Bend County reported a total of 2,138 confirmed cases, of which 820 have recovered and 47 have died. There are 1,271 active cases in the county of which 21 are hospitalized.

Fort Bend County reports it has performed a total of 15,044 tests at its county-run sites since March 30.


Waller County


Neither County Judge Trey Duhon nor the Waller County webpage with COVID-19 cases updates have announced new confirmed coronavirus cases since June 4 and June 1, respectively.

This means according to data available as of 4:10 p.m. June 8, the two Katy-area ZIP codes in Waller County have a total of six confirmed cases, of which four have recovered and two are active.


Countywide, the webpage reports a total of 63 cases, of which 41 have recovered and none have died. Duhon reported in a June 4 Facebook post that the county has a total of 65 cases, of which 20 are active.

However, the Texas Case Counts COVID-19 dashboard states Waller County has a total of 72 positive cases, per data available at 5:45 p.m. June 8.
