Fort Bend County had the highest proportion of Asian residents in Texas, according to the 2020 U.S. Census. The population of residents identifying as Asian alone increased by 83.7% in the past 10 years according to the census, making up 22.2% of 2020 residents.

The county’s census data otherwise reflected national trends, including a decrease in residents identifying as only white and increases in other groups. The total population of Fort Bend County increased by 40.6%.






Neighboring Harris County placed sixth in the state for residents identifying as Asian alone. Fort Bend County also had the 10th highest increase in residents identifying as American Indian/Alaskan Native alone, with a 98.7% increase.




The county placed seventh in the state for increases in its Not Hispanic or Latino population, with a 39.8% increase.
