The city of Katy on Sept. 27 returned to Stage 2 of its drought contingency plan, or “moderate” drought conditions.

The city had previously been in Stage 3, or “severe” drought, since Aug. 14. The change updates the city’s mandatory watering schedule and loosens restrictions.

The gist

The new plan changes the city’s watering schedule to the following, lasting from midnight-8 a.m. and 8-11:59 p.m.:
  • Even-numbered residential addresses (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8) can water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Odd-numbered residential addresses (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9) can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Commercial properties, homeowners' associations, green spaces and right-of-way properties can water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
