Voters in the Katy and Fulshear areas have one final chance May 3 to weigh in on several local school and city races.

By the numbers

Katy saw 1,641 voters cast their ballots during early voting April 22-29, while Katy ISD garnered 13,679 voters, according to early voting statistics from KISD. Meanwhile, Fulshear saw 922 early voters, and Lamar Consolidated ISD had 3,048 voters, according to data from Fort Bend County.


On the ballot

Katy residents will weigh in on the city’s next mayor, while Fulshear residents will decide on candidates for several City Council spots, including District 4 and At-Large.


Additionally, KISD and LCISD have four school board positions up for grabs, including:Katy residents will also have the opportunity to decide on five charter amendment proposals. The amendments include:
  • Clarifying mayor pro tem voting rules
  • Extending the resign to run policy for council and the mayor to the state standard
  • Allowing department heads to appeal terminations to City Council
  • Extending term limits for council members from two to four consecutive terms
Meanwhile, Fulshear voters will also weigh in on a $13.5 million parks bond to fund the construction of Primrose Park Phase 3 and to acquire land for future city parks, sports complexes and facilities.

Where to vote

City of Katy and KISD residents must cast their votes in their respective wards or precincts on election day from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. May 3, KISD Elections Administrator Justin Graham said in an email. Click here to see KISD and Katy voter precincts.

However, Fulshear and LCISD residents can visit one of 61 countywide polling locations on election day from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., according to Fort Bend County’s website.




Voters should bring at least one of seven forms of appropriate identification options to the polls, including a Texas drivers license, personal ID card, handgun license, military ID card or U.S. passport, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
