Fulshear residents have another chance to make their voices heard before the city welcomes a new mayor.

The race for Fulshear mayor continues in a June 15 runoff election between Joel Patterson and Don McCoy, who garnered 43.7% and 42.62% of votes, respectively, in the May 4 election.

What residents need to know

Registered voters can cast their ballots for mayor at James W. Roberts Middle School at 9230 Charger Way, Fulshear, from June 3-11 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. during the early voting period, according to the city’s website. However, polls will be closed June 9.

When heading to vote, registered voters should bring proper identification options, including a Texas driver’s license, personal identification card, handgun license, military ID card or U.S. passport, according to the Texas Secretary of State website.

In case you missed it

Following the outcome of the May election, both Patterson and McCoy told Community Impact it is essential for residents to ensure their voices are heard in such a tight election.
  • “It’s more important than ever to get out and vote. We have critical infrastructure projects that are waiting to be funded; we have a city manager position [that needs to be filled],” Patterson said. “Get out and vote; vote for someone who has the experience and a proven record.”
  • “Fulshear is exploding with growth, and it is important to have everybody’s opinions; ... their voices need to be heard,” McCoy said.
Looking ahead

Residents can visit the Fulshear Branch Library at 6350 GM Library Road, Fulshear, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on June 15 to cast their ballot if they don't have a chance to vote during the early period.

All voters in line by the 7 p.m. cutoff will still be allowed to vote, according to the Texas Secretary of State website.
