The details
Construction on the 11-building development began this summer at the corner of the Grand Parkway and FM 529, and the first stores will open in late spring 2025, leasing officer Kris Bender said. Three businesses have already signed leases in the 195,000-square-foot development, and three more are close to being signed, he said.
Stores signed currently are:
- Shipley Do-Nuts
- Smoothie King
- Akashi Sushi
Also of note
Four buildings will have second-story apartments that will each house 12 to 13 units, Bender said, while another building will host office space on the second floor. Each building will feature retail space on the first floor, Bender said.
One more thing
Elyson Town Center will open in the Elyson neighborhood, a new-home community that opened in late 2016, said Heather Gustafson, marketing manager of Brookfield Properties, the developer of Elyson.
“[The shopping center is] just giving all of our residents ... the opportunity that they don’t have to travel far for all of the conveniences and shopping that they’re looking for,” Gustafson said.
What’s next
With Elyson’s number of homes projected to increase from just under 3,000 in 2024 to 6,000 in 2029, there’s a higher demand for retail in the area, Gustafson said.
“That’s huge for residents to have things right in their neighborhood and they don’t have to travel multiple miles or take a toll road [for],” Gustafson said.
She said there’s still more space for other retailers to sign on in the shopping center.
