Store manager Michael Ochoa said renovations began on Jan. 15 and finished April 30, but the store was still open during renovations to not inconvenience customers.

“[The remodel] gives [customers] a nice clean new store that they deserve and long overdue,” Ochoa said. “[It’s a] great honor to provide our customers with a really good shopping experience and save money and live better.”

According to a Walmart news release, store upgrades include:
  • Open, customer-centric floor plan
  • Updated vision center look with addition of new brands
  • Updated online pick-up and delivery section
  • New front-end grab and go section
  • Upgraded store signage and video signage
  • Additional check-out lanes
  • Enhanced store mannequins and furniture displays
  • Expanded selection of apparel with brands, including Nike, Reebok and U.S. Polo
The remodel also includes a new Katy-focused mural, located in the grocery entrance, with features of local staples, including the Katy water tower and signs of the city’s railroad history and grain growth.

What else?

During the grand re-opening May 3, $12,000 in grants were presented to local nonprofits, including Back to Blue, Terachyi Foundation, Amazing Soldiers and Tcam Outreach, according to the release.
