More parkland will be added to Primrose Park using funds set aside for park and facilities land acquisition approved by voters in May 2025.
The big picture
At a May 12 meeting, Fulshear City Council approved the $1.5 million purchase of 4.1422 acres from Living Word Lutheran Church for incorporation into Primrose Park and future public park development.
The approval comes after the city postponed the grand opening of the park’s second phase—centered on baseball and softball fields—from May 9 to June 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. due to weather and rain impacts.
The details
The land acquisition is the fourth expansion of the park’s footprint, with the initial 10-acre donation by the Cornelius family in 2015, followed by a 15-acre purchase in 2016 and a 1-acre dedication in 2019, per agenda documents.
Officials previously said Phase 1 of the project included walking trails and parking, while Phase 2 brings:
- Four baseball and softball fields
- Sports lighting for all fields
- A restroom and concession building
- Parking and required detention
Also of noteCity Council also approved an agreement with Fulshear Little League as the recognized sports association for baseball and softball programming at Primrose Park.
The league anticipates its preseason to begin in mid to late July, followed by fall practice, a regular fall season and playoffs in November, per agenda documents.
