Washington/Westcott roundabout
In a Feb. 2 social media post, District C Houston City Council member Abbie Kamin announced work on the Washington/Westcott roundabout is rolling ahead.
The project will allow for improved drainage, raised crosswalks and new markings. Work is expected to commence within the next 90 days, Kamin said. The project is being funded by lane repair allocations and $100,000 of district service dollars.
According to Kamin's office, it is expected construction will require two weekends of total closure of the roundabout, at which time a detour will be put in place.

Been working on this since coming into office! Repavement-no more bumpy rides, drainage, repair curbs AND adding raised crosswalks for pedestrians including families at @MemorialElm! pic.twitter.com/DF9EFHWKJL— Abbie Kamin (@AbbieKamin) February 2, 2023
As construction finished on Westheimer Road—with resurfacing from Weslayan Street to Maconda Lane—Kamin said residents of Saint Street approached her office with concerns about the conditions of their road.
Through work with Houston Public Works, Kamin said she has secured road resurfacing for Saint Street, Joanel Street and Timmons Lane between West Alabama Street and Westheimer Road. Resurfacing will also be applied to the segment of Kipling Street in the project area.
Instead of multiple projects with separate timelines, the work on these streets will happen in concert with ongoing work on West Alabama Street. The timeline for the overlay of these streets is yet to be finalized.
