Renowned German camera and optics company Leica Camera will open its first Texas store and gallery at River Oaks District in Houston next year.

Leica Camera Store is an official retail location and cultural hub dedicated to the German luxury camera brand Leica Camera.
Leica cameras, according to the store's website, are a "high-end, precision-crafted" tool created with heavy-duty metals and genuine leather.
The Houston store will offer Leica's complete portfolio of products, including:
M series: Digital and film rangefinder cameras built for traditional, manual photography
SL Series: Modern, high-resolution mirrorless system cameras with autofocus designed for professional hybrid shooters
Q Series: Compact, full-frame digital cameras featuring fixed, high-speed lenses
Leica cameras generally cost between $1,400 and $17,500, depending on the model. Additional items for sale in-store will include lenses, timepieces and home cinema products.
The River Oaks District location will also introduce the brand's immersive retail concept to the region, allowing customers to experience the brand's craftsmanship and technology, according to a Sept. 15 news release.
The Houston store will also offer exhibitions, educational programming, workshops and artist talks at the store.
Their thoughts
Robert Bernard, senior real estate manager at Fertitta Entertainment, said River Oaks District officials are looking forward to welcoming the German brand to Houston.
"We are intentional about bringing in brands that elevate the overall experience of the District, and Leica is a perfect reflection of that vision," he said via news release. "This unique, art-forward destination celebrates local artists, craftsmanship and one-of-a-kind experiences alongside the world's most celebrated luxury brands.”
Mike Giannattasio, president of Leica Camera's North American division, said they chose Houston for the Texas flagship location because it is one of America's "most dynamic cultural centers, with a vibrant arts community and an entrepreneurial spirit."
Something to note
The new store will be situated next to Le Colonial within the District. As of Sept. 15, a specific opening date was not available. However, River Oaks District officials said the store is slated to open in 2027.
