Houstonians planning to travel on I-69 during the June 24 weekend should expect some delays as construction continues at the Loop 610 West intersection.

All northbound and southbound mainlanes of I-69 at Loop 610 West will be closed from 9 p.m. June 24 through 5 a.m. June 27, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Construction will continue on the new Loop 610 northbound main bridge over I-69, and demolition will also begin for the existing I-69 southbound connector ramp to southbound Loop 610 West, the release said. Additional ramp closures and night closures will follow.

According to the release, drivers should expect delays and plan accordingly. Police officers will be present to help facilitate traffic.

The $259 million project is set to widen connector ramps, increase sight distances and help eliminate weaving traffic to allow for enhanced safety as well as improved mobility, according to TxDOT. More information for the project and detours can be found here.
