A week after a northbound main lane was closed, the Texas Department of Transportation will close a Hwy. 59/I-69 southbound lane under the I-610 loop as construction continues on the freeway interchange.

The lane, from Chimney Rock Road to Weslayan Street, will officially close as of 5 a.m. Monday, June 17. To facilitate the closure, crews will restripe the freeway from 9 p.m. Friday, June 14 until Monday morning, during which two southbound lanes will be closed.

The lanes are expected to remain closed until 2020.

In May, the I-610 West Loop between Westpark Drive and Bissonnet Street lost a lane in each direction until further notice.
