Correction: The the Feb. 2 event celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Junior League of Houston's Charity Ball, not the Junior League of Houston itself.

The Houston branch of the Junior League, an organization of women who serve and uplift the community through volunteerism, celebrated the 75th anniversary of its Charity Ball with a three-night event in early February.

Held from Feb. 2-4, the event involved a black-tie charity ball that raised over $820,000 for the Junior League of Houston. According to a press release, the charity ball has been an annual source of revenue for the organization since 1949.

The League, which has 4,200 members, promotes a life of civic service for women, and provides trained volunteers and funding to 33 community projects around Houston as well as additional outreach efforts, such as community grants and events.
