A new location of fast-casual restaurant Little Rey opened April 1 at 2345 Mid Lane, in a space between the Shops at Highland Village and the River Oaks District.

The Northern Mexico-inspired eatery was founded by Chef Ford Fry, who also runs the Tex-Mex eatery Superica in the Heights.

Menu items include wood-roasted chicken al carbon, al carbon tacos and traditional street-style tacos. Salsas are made fresh in-house, as are the venue's tortillas, according to an April 1 news release. Breakfast options include migas breakfast tacos and pancakes served with buttermilk syrup.

Little Rey also offers margaritas, housemade agua frescas and Mexican beers. Rotating soft-serve options, such as tres leches, and salty cejeta and fried peanuts, are also offered, according to the release.

The 7,000-square-foot restaurant features a covered patio.
