Lloyd and Carol Sandel founded Surfhouse in the 1960s, but first closed down in 2023 once Carol Sandel retired.
By October 2023, new ownership under co-owners Brian Menn and Brian Fish brought the surf and skate shop back to life, as previously reported by Community Impact. Less than two years later, shop representatives announced on social media that Surfhouse is preparing to close its doors at the end of April. Until then, shop officials will be selling gear and memorabilia up to 50% off, according to the social media post.
What they're saying
“We have put everything we had into keeping the Surfhouse alive for you, and for Lloyd and Carol. Unfortunately, there’s just not enough support to keep it going. To all of you that showed up to support us and to support the store, we thank you immensely,” the statement said.
Surfhouse sold a range of surfing and skating gear and apparel.
