This summer, Houston saw the opening of three new Asian-inspired restaurants in the Heights, River Oaks and Montrose area, with three anticipated to open soon.

Asia is the biggest continent in the world, consisting of 50 independent countries, including China, India, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam. For food lovers, popular dishes that originate from the continent include sushi, pho, biryani, dim sum and peking duck.

New restaurants in the local area offering different types of Asian cuisines include:

Kazzan Ramen & Bar: This full-service restaurant and bar is known for its unique style of ramen that features thick noodles, vegetables and hot soup. It also offers classic Japanese-inspired cuisine such as kushikatsu, chicken karaage and beef don.

Thai Tail: This restaurant specializes in Thai-inspired food featuring menu items such as crispy wonton pad Thai, shrimp nuggets, a green curry pork burger and fried rice. Dessert options include mango sticky rice and Thai donuts.

Azumi: This modern Japanese restaurant offers a variety of dishes that range from specialty items such as scallop tiradito, hirame crudo and miso black cod while also offering nigiri and sashimi. There are also over 60 sakes and 16 different rare bottles of Japanese whiskey to choose from.

Yummy Pho & Bo Ne: Serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine, Yummy Pho & Bo Ne specializes in bo ne, a Vietnamese-French fusion that combines Vietnamese steak and eggs served in a sizzling pan with Spam. Other menu items include pho, vermicelli noodles and banh mi sandwiches.

Haii Keii: Chef Jeff Auld and Jarred Tosto announced this new Asian-inspired steak and sushi concept expected to hit the River Oaks community this summer. The menu is expected to bring together the flavors of peking duck, sushi and wagyu beef.

Doves Restaurant: Doves Restaurant will combine classic Southern cuisine with an Asian twist. The restaurant is anticipated to open in Midtown in early August, but has yet to release a menu or more details on the concept.
