Tilman Fertitta, Houston billionaire business mogul, has acquired the "landmark" River Oaks District in a $450 million deal.

Fertitta is the CEO of Fertitta Entertainment Inc., which includes dining and hospitality company Landry's, the Houston Rockets, and Golden Nugget hotels and casinos.

The details

According to a March 1 news release, Fertitta’s purchase of the 13.87-acre luxury retail and mixed-use space is meant to attract highly curated retail and restaurant concepts by utilizing his "home-town connections" to capitalize on existing leasing momentum and elevate the development to new heights.

The River Oaks District is anchored by the Post Oak Hotel at Uptown and its adjacent upscale restaurants—including Bari Ristorante, Steak 48 and Ojo de Agua. Post Oak Motor Cars, another Tilman Fertitta Company, is also located within the district, as well as boutique office space and luxury apartments.

First-to-market retailers, such as Stefano Ricci, Adam Lippes, Hastens and Biologique Recherche, are slated to open in the River Oaks District in 2024, with more additions to be announced in upcoming months, per the release.

Quote of note

“Adding River Oaks District to our Post Oak Hotel family of offerings seamlessly complements the curated experience we have created for the luxury-seeking consumer,” Fertitta said in a statement. “This is the perfect moment in time to add this premier mixed-use development to our luxury portfolio, creating incredible cross-promotional opportunities and elevating the standard for luxury dining and shopping for Houstonians and international travelers alike.”
