A new eatery will debut in River Oaks on May 15 billing itself as serving "classic Italian" dishes in a modern setting meant to evoke the experience of eating in some of Italy's most fashionable cities, including Milan and Rome.

Bari Ristorante will be located within the River Oaks District, 4444 Westheimer Road, Ste. A175, Houston. It will serve lunch and dinner daily in addition to offering a weekend brunch.

“Bari brings the ultimate Italian dining experience to the district, and we have no doubt that our guests will enjoy gathering at this landmark restaurant,” said Rosalind Schurgin, CEO of The Festival Companies, the management and leasing operator for the River Oaks District.

Bari will feature a covered patio facing a newly installed green space, according to a May 5 news release.

The menu will specialize in classic Italian dishes served with a mix of imported seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Antipasti dishes will include the tagiliere di carne; carpaccio di manzo; and a tagliatelle pasta prepared tableside with a Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheel and shaved truffles.

The menu will also feature salads, seafood imported daily, housemade pasta, hand-tossed pizzas and main courses, such as bone-in veal Milanese—topped with a baby arugula, watercress and cherry tomato salad.

Meanwhile, a dessert menu will feature Italian favorites such as bombolini, a warm doughnut filled with orange cream and served with raspberry, chocolate and vanilla dips.

The beverage program will offer Italian wines and cocktails, including a signature negroni, a peach nector Bellini and a homemade limoncello. A curated wine list includes Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Tignanello, Brunello and Amarone.

The kitchen will be overseen by Executive Chef Renato De Pirro, who has spent 30 years working at restaurants across Italy and the U.S., according to the release.
