The First Saturday Art Market will be back March 4 in the Heights, and this month's event comes with an extra cause for celebration.

Based at 540 W. 19th St., Houston, the market will celebrate its 19th birthday, according to market founder and Houston artist Mitch Cohen.

Founded in 2004, the free-to-attend market runs on the first Saturday of each month from September through May from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The March 4 market will feature 39 artist vendors across a variety of mediums, including pottery, painting, photography, jewelry design, woodcraft, pen, pencil, lithograph, and hand-blown and fused glass. New artists chosen to participate in the market are chosen in an application and selection process by existing artists on the roster, Cohen said.

The food truck Dibi Rapide will be on-site serving Senegalese food, and live music will be provided by Austin-based Al Shire at 1 p.m. and the Wendy Elizabeth Jones Band at 2 p.m.
