For the first time, First Saturday Arts Market and The Market at Sawyer Yards are merging to create Bam Art Market, an indoor event that combines both markets and their specialties.

The inaugural Bam market will be held on Aug. 13 from noon-8 p.m. at Silver Street Warehouse, 2000 Edwards St., Houston. Admission is free for all guests.

Bam Art Market will feature over 100 artists and exhibitors, many of whom have participated in past markets before the merger. Works will span from fine art and traditional art, such as paintings often found at First Saturday Arts Market, to the artisan crafts from The Market at Sawyer Yards.

Both art markets used to be held outdoors, but founder Mitch Cohen said he decided to hold the event indoors this year.

“Both markets are fabulous locations for getting people out but neither offer any kind of shade from the sun,” Cohen said in a July 20 press release. “When I asked the exhibitors about moving the summer markets indoors for one big summer event, I was met with overwhelming positivity.”

Music will also be performed at Bam Art Market. Blind Uncle Charlie will perform at noon; Grifters and Shills will play at 2:30 p.m.; and Charlie y La Tribu Cubana will play at 6:30 p.m. Pak-Man food truck and Houston Cider Co. will serve food and drinks on site.
