1960 Hope Center, a nonprofit day center and assistance center for homeless individuals in the north Houston area, is in the process of changing its name to Hope Center Houston as of June 19, President Debbie Johnson said.
The nonprofit is also in the process of relocating from 744 Cypress Creek Parkway, Ste. B, Houston, to a new two-story, 14,000-square-foot building at 821 Peakwood Drive, Houston. Upon relocation in late July, the move will allow Hope Center Houston to expand its services, Johnson said.
The center serves as a place where homeless individuals can receive hot lunch, shower, get laundry washed, get haircuts and receive clothing and hygiene essentials. Hope Center Houston also offers counseling, mail service, resume assistance and computer access and provides identification cards through the Homeless Outreach Team at the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Since the center first opened in August 2016, more than 2,000 homeless individuals have registered for Hope Center Houston services and the center serves three to five new people each day, Johnson said. 832-965-5511.
