More than 200 injured veterans and active duty military cyclists participating in the Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge will stop in Tomball March 23 on their way from Houston to Fort Worth.
Tomball will be the first stop for veterans participating in this multi-day ride from Houston to Fort Worth. The cyclists will arrive in four waves and are entering Tomball from the east on FM 2920. The first wave of cyclists is expected to arrive between 9:30 and 10 a.m., with the three subsequent waves following every 10 to 15 minutes after. Each group will break at the historic Tomball Depot before continuing down Main Street to Four Corners.
Tomball Mayor Gretchen Fagan is asking that residents and businesses honor the veterans by welcoming them at the Depot, or by lining Main Street and Business Hwy. 249 to cheer on the cyclists as they ride through town.
"Wear your red, white and blue, and wave Old Glory in downtown Tomball for these True American heroes," Fagan said. "They were there for us, so now let's be there for them here in Tomball."
Ride 2 Recovery is a nonprofit organization that provides physical and mental rehabilitation to injured veterans with cycling as the core activity.
