After ITT Technical Institute announced the immediate and permanent closing of its 10 Texas campuses Sept. 6, officials with Lone Star College System declared they would be coming to the aid of affected students.
“This is a very difficult time for ITT students,” LSCS Chancellor Stephen Head said. “Lone Star College is ready to answer their questions in a one-on-one environment to help them determine their options.”
The system is hosting transfer fairs to help former ITT Tech students discuss their options and the financial implications of transferring to LSCS. Upcoming fairs will be held at LSC-Tomball on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and at LSC-Montgomery on Wednesday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Officials also launched a page on the LSCS website detailing the process to transfer credits to Lone Star College.
Special advisors can be reached via e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 281-362-7827 to answer any questions.
In an e-mail to former ITT Tech students, Education Secretary John King said students who wish to continue their program at another school may be able to transfer their credits. He did warn that transferring credits might limit the ability for a student to have federal loans discharged.
LSCS has also posted career opportunities for any ITT Tech employees now without jobs.
