1. Sammy’s Steakhouse


What we reported Sammy’s Steakhouse opened a new concept steakhouse in late November. The Sammy’s brand has five sports grill locations. Aside from steak, the menu also includes chicken, fish, a bone marrow appetizer and beef cheek stew.


What’s next: Sammy’s is set to open three new sports grill locations in Sugar Land, Tomball and La Grange this year.

2. Il Primo Pizza and Wings


What we reported Il Primo Pizza and Wings, which has a location on Grand Parkway, built a custom food truck out of a repurposed U-Haul.


What’s next The owners plan to serve up pizza and wings at Super Bowl festivities this year. The truck will then be available to be used at community events.

3. Carmengio’s Italian Food & Pizzeria


What we reported Carmengio’s Italian Food & Pizzeria opened Nov. 12. The restaurant offers pasta, pizza, Buffalo wings, flatbreads, and beer, wine and Italian sodas among the items on its menu.


What’s next The company plans to add additional locations in Sugar Land and Katy in 2017.

4. All Stars Family Grill


What we reported All Stars
Family Grill will become a Texas
Borders Bar and Grill location. The original Texas Borders restaurant resides at 20940 Hwy. 10, Katy.


What’s next All Stars closed Dec. 18 and is set to re-open the second week of January. The building will undergo a remodel that will include a new full bar as well as adult and children’s patios.

5. Nick’s Italian Restaurant


What we reported Nick’s Italian Restaurant recently underwent renovations, more than doubling its dining area. A new party room, which has been soundproofed, allows the establishment to host parties and other special events that include up to 75 guests. While the party room will also be used as a second, overflow dining room, the restaurant also plans to further expand its original dining area.


What’s next Future plans include adding new restrooms and more than tripling the size of the kitchen. Nick’s is now able to accommodate parties of more than five guests.
