Work is underway on the first phase of homes at Bluejack National, the private, resort-style community under construction on a 755-acre site in Montgomery. The development, which is centered on an 18-hole golf course designed by Tiger Woods, will include a number of amenities, such as an outdoor movie theater, zip line, bowling alley and a short course.
“Golf is a common anchor in communities all across the country, and while we’ve put a lot of time and money into that, it’s just part of the story here,” Bluejack President Casey Paulson said. “Really what we tried to focus on here is a thorough set of amenities that cater to people of all ages.”
At build-out, there will be 386 total private homes in the Bluejack development, including 234 custom estate home sites. In addition to the custom homes, The Woodlands-based homebuilder Tipler Design and Build is constructing three different home options at Bluejack: member suites, cottages and Sunday homes. The first round of buyers includes residents from across the country as well as Houstonians from inside Loop 610.
“We’re seeing a lot of young professionals out of River Oaks and Memorial who want to put their kids in the car on Friday evening and come up to enjoy everything offered as part of the club,” managing partner Justin Tipler said. “About one-third of the people who have bought [a home] so far fall into that category.”
The member suites, which will range in price between $455,000 and $500,000, are similar to a two-bedroom hotel suite. The cottages range from 1,855 to 2,350 square feet, have four bedrooms and start at $745,000. The Sunday homes will consist of four bedrooms with garages, featuring an option to add a studio apartment above the garage. The 2,800-square-foot Sunday homes range in value from $1.28 million to $1.55 million.
“These homes are ideal for people looking to make Bluejack a place where they can get away for a few days,” Paulson said. “We think this is a full-service community and will cater to people looking for a primary or secondary home.”
Tipler’s model homes will be complete by mid-November, and construction is expected to begin simultaneously on about 25 presold homes.
Development continues on the golf course as well. Several holes are open for members, and a grand opening for the 18-hole course is expected to take place in April with Tiger Woods.
Work will continue on the extensive set of community amenities available to members as well, including The Fort, which will feature a swimming lake, ropes course, game room and archery range.
Build-out of the club and community’s amenities is underway and will be completed over the span of a couple years. Bluejack’s membership will include 500 golf members and 50 corporate members, Paulson said.
“If you’re an average golfer, there’s no question a Tiger Woods-designed course will be one of the best, if not the best, in Houston to play,” Tipler said. “The developer has done a really good job in extending the amenities out to nongolfers. We’re seeing that either the husband or the wife is a golfer and maybe the kids aren’t, but there’s something for everyone to do.”
