A group of developers presented plans for a mixed-use planned development near the northwest corner of FM 2920 and FM 2978 to Tomball City Council at the meeting March 3.

Damon Palermo and Jerry Hayley of 2978 Panormus LLP are proposing to build a 34.4-acre development known as Peck Station, which will include, but is not limited to, multifamily housing, retail shops, commercial space and a hotel. According to the presentation, the development will take approximately three years and will cost an estimated $50 million.

The development is intended to capitalize on the influx of people coming to the Tomball area as a result of the opening of the Baker Hughes Western Hemisphere Education Center, Tomball City Manager George Shackelford said. The development, if approved, would be built within Tomball city limits and would directly benefit the city in areas such as sales tax revenues and hotel occupancy tax revenues.

The presentation given to council was in advance of the preliminary plat for the development, which will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission March 10 and their application for rezoning to a planned development, which will be presented for consideration at the April 14 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

"The area the developers are looking at for the planned community is currently zoned for single-family housing," Shackelford said.

Shackelford said the Planning and Zoning Commission must first approve the rezoning, and once that happens, the development will be brought to city council for approval.
