Cypress Assistance Ministries is getting a head start on its back-to-school drive. The local nonprofit is calling on the community to help children from disadvantaged families start the 2022-23 school year off strong.

New backpacks, new school supplies, new underwear and new socks are being collected through July 14. The most needed items include backpacks, crayons, construction paper, manila paper, markers, pencil boxes, composition books, wide-ruled paper, college-ruled paper, wide-ruled spiral notebooks, highlighters, pencil sharpeners, index cards, one-subject spiral notebooks and binders.
