48-acre Hot Wells Shooting Range property goes up for sale in Cypress

A 48.6-acre parcel of land that was once home to Hot Wells Shooting Range was listed on the market this month for $8.5 million. The property at 24815 Hwy. 290, Cypress, is on the south side of Hwy. 290 between Fry and Barker Cypress roads.

According to a news release, the property’s history dates to the early 1900s, when wildcatters discovered an artesian water well, leading to the construction of Houston Hot Well Hotel & Sanitarium, which offered hot mineral water baths for up to 500 guests.

Community Impact previously reported Hot Wells Shooting Range opened in 1973. The business offered a gun range, community events, courses and licensing programs.

Realtor Kathy McKinney represents the property with Compass.

“There are a multitude of potential uses for this property that is so rich in history,” McKinney said in a statement. “The land could be ideal for single or multifamily development, commercial development, or even recreational development as in the past. There are very few parcels of land available in this size and area; it could even be an outstanding single-family sanctuary without having to leave town.”
