Jersey Village’s new Water and Wastewater Master Plan, featuring $68.6 million worth of proposed improvement projects, was unanimously approved by City Council on Nov. 19.

Sorting out details

Twenty total major water and wastewater infrastructure projects were recommended under the master plan, according to a Nov. 19 presentation from engineering firm Quiddity. The water system projects are expected to cost $25.6 million while the wastewater projects would cost $43.1 million.

According to Quiddity’s presentation, the costliest recommended projects include:
  • $20.5 million for an expansion of the Castlebridge Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • $6.6 million for two phases of improvements to Water Plant Facility No. 4
  • $5.1 million for work on a Fairview Street water line running from FM 529 to Taylor Road
  • $4.8 million for improvements on a wastewater lift station at Taylor Road
City Council unanimously voted—with council member Sheri Sheppard absent—to approve the master plan.

Looking ahead

The water and wastewater master plan will provide guidance for city leaders for the next decade, according to Nov. 19 meeting documents.

City staff will review the master plan before giving recommendations on whether to proceed with the proposed projects, City Manager Austin Bleess said Nov. 19.
