City of Jersey Village officials are in the process of creating an updated comprehensive plan to guide the city for land use, economic development, transportation and more through 2035, according to an Oct. 29 news post from the city.

The big picture

Dubbed the “Journey to 2035 Comprehensive Plan,” Jersey Village’s new comprehensive plan will incorporate community feedback and data and as well metrics to assess progress once the plan is implemented, according to a city website dedicated to the plan. The plan will be designed as a 10- to 20-year guide for city leaders.

According to the city’s comprehensive plan website, highlights of what the plan will cover include:
  • Housing developments, land use and areas that can be developed
  • Community facilities, parks and trails
  • Utilities and infrastructure
  • Population, demographic and socioeconomic data
  • Roads and transportation
  • Economic factors and priority investments
  • Environmental conditions
  • Existing plans and policies
Jersey Village’s new comprehensive plan will be funded by a $157,500 grant from the Texas General Land Office, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The timeline


A seven-member committee will be in charge of developing the plan, according to the city’s comprehensive plan website. The timeline for the plan development process includes:
  • Nov. 30: Community survey closes
  • November-April: City holds preliminary committee meetings focused on drafting the plan
  • August: A preliminary draft of the plan is presented
  • October 2025: A final draft of the plan is presented
  • November 2025: The new comprehensive plan is adopted
