Cy-Fair ISD officials announced Wednesday evening that all campuses will be open Thursday, May 23, as power has been restored at all campuses districtwide.

As of 2:30 p.m. on May 22, Cy-Fair ISD officials said Holbrook Elementary School is the lone campus still without power following the May 16 storm.

All other campuses are set to be open on Thursday, May 23. Holbrook families will receive an additional update by 6 p.m. this evening, officials said.

Cy-Fair ISD officials have updated the original list of campuses that would be closed tomorrow. As of Tuesday evening, all but the following campuses will be open on May 22:
  • Cypress Park High School
  • Holbrook Elementary School
  • Labay Middle School
  • Lowery Elementary School
  • Rowe Middle School

All but 10 Cy-Fair ISD campuses and facilities will re-open May 22, except:
  • Bane Elementary School
  • Bridgeland High School
  • Cypress Park High School
  • Holbrook Elementary School
  • Labay Middle School
  • Lowery Elementary School
  • Postma Elementary School
  • Rowe Middle School
  • Sprague Middle School
  • Wells Elementary School


District officials said students and staff at campuses that are open Wednesday should be patient as buses could be running late. One transportation center was still without power as of the Tuesday afternoon announcement.


“We know that much of our area has endured days of power outages and damages due to Thursday’s storm, and some of you may not be fully recovered. Thank you so much for your continued patience during this challenging time. We look forward to seeing the majority of our students and staff on Wednesday,” officials said in the statement.

The school district shut down for three school days May 17-21 following the May 16 storm.

Administration will be requesting a waiver from the Texas Education Agency for missed days that were not factored into the academic calendar, Community Impact previously reported.
