This week marked the start of the school year for many districts in the Houston area, including some that returned for in-person instruction for the first time since March.

On average, schools in Galveston County and Montgomery County are expected to see larger percentages of in-person attendance than schools in Harris County, where officials told superintendents they should not reopen for in-person instruction while the county’s COVID-19 threat level system is still set at “severe.”

Spring, Cy-Fair and Klein ISDs are among the districts with the highest percentages of students learning remotely. Montgomery, Magnolia and Friendswood ISDs are among the districts with the highest percentages of students learning in person.
