One year after opening a new hospital at 27800 Hwy. 290, Cypress, officials with Memorial Hermann Health Systems have announced plans for a nearly $25 million expansion at the 32-acre campus.

According to statement released April 2, the recently approved plan includes adding 24 licensed beds, an additional catheterization lab for heart procedures and an endoscopy suite for gastrointestinal procedures. The expansion will be rolled out over the course of 2018 and should wrap up by summer 2019, officials said.

The hospital opened with 81 beds on March 31, 2017, and has since added services such as a high-risk pregnancy center, Memorial Hermann Wound Care, robotic surgery capabilities and occupational medicine services for area companies. Today, the hospital has 480 affiliated physicians spanning 40 specialties.

“We’ve seen amazing growth in the hospital’s first year of operation, and we are dedicated to continuing to provide the community with the excellent care they have come to expect from us,” CEO and Senior Vice President Heath Rushing said in a press release. “I am proud that the community has embraced us as a trusted care provider.”

Memorial Hermann is also working toward a designated Level III trauma center and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
