1. Fogo de Chão opened Dec. 9 with its churrasco experience.
  • On the menu: In addition to bone-in ribeye, lamb chops and picanha, the menu features the Market Table salad bar and Brazilian side dishes from the Feijoada Bar. On-site dry-aged meat lockers allow for in-house aging, a full bar offers cocktails, wine and beer, and private dining spaces are also available.

2. Portillo's—a fast-casual Chicago-style street food restaurant—opened Jan. 14 near Willowbrook Mall.
  • On the menu: Portillo's offers a menu of Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches and char-grilled burgers.

3. Charleys Cheesesteaks & Wings opened Dec. 20 with dine-in, pickup, drive-thru and delivery services available.
  • On the menu: The sandwich shop offers Philly-style cheesesteaks, wings, loaded fries and lemonades.

4. Piada Italian Street Food opened Dec. 10.
  • On the menu: Salads, tossed pastas and flatbread wraps known as piadas are on the menu. These items can be customized with different proteins, sauces, vegetables and cheeses. Side dishes include sweet corn salad, garlic dough, calamari and hot peppers, meatballs and more.

5. Flying Biscuit Cafe opened Dec. 16 and had a record-breaking opening week for the company, bringing in over $100,000 in revenue, according to a news release.
  • On the menu: Biscuits, omelets, scrambles, French toast, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches, burgers and salads are featured on Flying Biscuit’s menu. Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options are also available.
