As of May 3, nearly 456,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed to individuals across the 10 ZIP codes within Cy-Fair ISD’s boundaries, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

This region has had 58,123 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. Active cases have generally been trending down since late January, although they remained fairly stagnant week over week as Cy-Fair had 1,492 active cases as of May 4.

Nearly 191,000 residents or about 28% of the overall population of the area have been fully vaccinated against the virus. Experts recommend at least 70% of the population needs to be vaccinated for herd immunity to be achieved.

Just south of there in ZIP code 77449, that percentage falls to 23.5%—the lowest percentage in the region as of May 3.

At least 282,700 Cy-Fair residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines require two doses to be administered three to six weeks apart. The newest vaccine, from Johnson & Johnson, requires just one dose, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In Harris County, 1.8 million individuals have been partially vaccinated, and more than 1.2 million have been fully vaccinated as of May 4, according to DSHS data. Find more county-level information about the vaccine here.
