Nearly 300 new COVID-19 cases reported in Cy-Fair ISD schools Jan. 11-17

Officials in Cy-Fair ISD reported 298 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on campuses from Jan. 11-17, including 90 staff members and 208 students across the district. Cy-Fair High School had the most cases during this time, including 16 students and two staff members.

This brings the district’s total number of cases reported since the start of the 2020-21 school year to 1,861. As of Jan. 17, CFISD had reported 573 active cases and 1,288 recoveries.

The Texas Education Agency requires public school districts throughout the state to submit a weekly report detailing the number of test-confirmed positive COVID-19 cases among students and employees who participate in any on-campus activity. This data does not include students learning remotely and may not include those who test positive while in quarantine if they were not on campus during their infectious period.

CFISD students and staff members experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are eligible for free rapid testing services Mon.-Fri. from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the site where Windfern High School was formerly located: 12630 Windfern Road, Houston. A student ID or employee badge is required to receive one of these free tests, and students under age 18 must have parent or guardian consent. See additional requirements here.
