The city of Houston confirmed 117 new COVID-19 cases May 13, bringing the total in the city to 5,030.
A total of 299 cases of COVID-19 were reported that same day across the Greater Houston area. A total of 170 recoveries were also confirmed, as well as four deaths.
Active cases continue to rise in the Greater Houston area, and were up to roughly 7,264 as of May 13. Active cases continued to fall in Galveston County, where 22 new cases and 44 recoveries have been confirmed over the past week.
A total of 672 suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients were in Houston-area hospitals as of May 12, according to the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council, a total that has held fairly steady since the start of the month.
