Fred Billings, owner Buds & Blossoms Garden Center in Cy-Fair, explained gardeners can choose from many annuals and perennials when adding flowers to their gardens in March. Annual plants die off after one growing season, but perennial plants regrow each spring.

Porter weed, ruellia, verbenas, drift roses, marigolds, periwinkles, hip hop euphorbia, snapdragons, petunias and vincas are popular choices for the spring season.

Local garden centers offer plants and supplies as well as advice for gardeners who have questions. This list is not comprehensive.
