Leaders with the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce announced the four annual recipients of the organization’s Business of the Year awards at a March 2 luncheon. Winners included a nonprofit and three local businesses that gave back to the community and overcame challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nonprofit

Cy-Hope was named Nonprofit of the Year for its efforts to feed more than 110,000 Cy-Fair families throughout the economic downturn in 2020. The organization celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year and helps meet needs of local children classified as economically disadvantaged.

Cy-Fair Fire Department and Shield Bearer Counseling Centers were the other two finalists in the nonprofit category.

Small business


The Work Well was named Small Business of the Year for its flexible workspace solutions. The coworking space has collaborative, open spaces; private offices; hybrid memberships; conference and meeting room packages; and virtual mail and phone services.

Club Z! In-Home Tutoring of Cypress and Steam Commander were the other two finalists in the small-business category, which included businesses with one to nine employees.

Medium business

The city of Jersey Village’s Jersey Meadow Golf Club was named Medium Business of the Year for its forward thinking while operating amid the pandemic. This led to record numbers of rounds played, revenue, merchandise, concessions and range fees.


Alicia’s Mexican Grille and America’s ER and Medical Center were the other two finalists in the medium business category, which included businesses with 10-50 employees.

Large business

Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital was named Large Business of the Year for its quick and innovative response to the pandemic. The 358-bed hospital employs more than 2,200 individuals and has 1,300 physicians on staff.

Bridgeland and HCA Houston Healthcare – North Cypress were the other two finalists in the large-business category, which included businesses with 50 or more employees.
