Jersey Village City Council unanimously approved its fiscal year 2023-24 budget, which outlines $29.65 million in general fund expenses and $22.82 million in general fund expenses, according to the Aug. 21 agenda packet.

In a nutshell

In the approved budget, the city of Jersey Village budgeted for $22.82 million in revenue, which includes $14.59 million in sales, property and other tax revenue, according to the agenda packet.

On the expenditure side, the city has budgeted for $29.65 million in expenses, resulting in a shortfall of around $6.83 million, according to the agenda packet. Some of the expenses budgeted for include:

  • $3.6 million for the fire department
  • $4.96 million for the police department
  • $1.05 million for the parks department

What else?

According to the agenda packet, the city also budgeted for $15.73 million in capital improvements in FY 2023-24, which includes:

  • $8.5 million for the golf course convention center
  • $550,000 to remodel the fire station
  • $255,000 for the Clark Henry baseball field
  • $250,000 for decorative street lights
  • $200,000 to rehabilitate and repair storm water lines

Jersey Village’s tax rate

City Council also approved a tax rate of $0.7425 per $100 valuation, which is the same tax rate the city has had since 2021, according to the agenda packet.
