Officials with the city of Jersey Village broke ground on a new clubhouse at Jersey Meadow Golf Club on July 24 to celebrate the start of construction on the $8.72 million renovation that will include converting the existing clubhouse space into an event center.

“It's going to be not just a resource for our golfers who are out here constantly, ... but it's also going to be a really great resource for the entire community. It may be a golf course clubhouse, but really it is a clubhouse for the entire city—all of our residents and for everyone in the area,” Mayor Bobby Warren said.

The details

The project will include the following elements:
  • New clubhouse
  • New pro shop
  • Office space
  • New bar and grill
  • New bathrooms
  • Event space
  • Storage
Jersey Village City Council approved a guaranteed maximum price of $8.72 million for the project on April 17, Community Impact previously reported. The city is contracting with Brookstone Construction to build out the space, which was designed by FGM Architects.

Looking back

The estimated cost for the project escalated over time during years of deliberation and planning starting in 2017 when council first authorized a renovation study for the existing clubhouse.

“I think it was probably my first year on council when we first started talking about, ‘Do we renovate the existing building?’” Warren said. “And then we realized, no, it really made more sense to build something new. And of course COVID[-19] comes along as a wrench into things, and we go back and forth regarding designs, ... but we're finally here.”
