Montgomery ISD has canceled classes remotely and in person for Feb. 17 as hazardous road conditions and power outages continue in the district, MISD announced in a statement. The board of trustees meeting previously scheduled for Feb. 16 has been postponed to Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. Updated Feb. 15

Montgomery ISD released a statement Feb. 15 canceling its all-remote learning day scheduled for Feb. 16. The district previously announced all students would shift to remote learning Feb. 16 as facilities closed amid inclement weather. However, no in-person or remote learning will take place Feb. 16, per the updated statement.

Additionally, the district plans to apply for a missed-school-day waiver from the Texas Education Agency, which would allow the district to not have to make up the instructional minutes, according to a statement from the district.

The MISD board of trustees meeting is still scheduled for Feb. 16.

Montgomery ISD students and staff will shift to virtual learning Feb. 16, as district facilities will be closed as a result of inclement weather, according to a Feb. 12 news release.

District officials said the closure comes as preparation for dangerous road conditions as a result of forecasted inclement weather. As of Feb. 12, Montgomery County officials have already taken action to urge preparedness and have shut down nearby overpasses amid the inclement weather.

Extracurricular activities scheduled to take place Feb. 13 are expected to be held as normal, as well as the MISD board of trustees meeting Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.

Montgomery ISD will be closed Feb. 15 in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. In-person instruction is expected to resume Feb. 17.
