COVID-19 vaccinations at St. Luke's Health-The Woodlands Hospital drive-thru clinic, a Montgomery County vaccine hub, have also been paused and will tentatively resume on Friday, Feb. 19, weather permitting, according to Vanessa Astros, director of external communications.

Astros said those who qualify for the vaccinations under state criteria can fill out a form to join the waiting list at https://www.stlukeshealth.org/montgomerycountyvaccine.

Although the first snowflakes had not yet fallen Feb. 12, emergency management operations in Montgomery County were already preparing for expected subfreezing temperatures with a chance of snow or icy weather, county officials said.

The preparations also include Lone Star Family Health Center postponing a COVID-19 second-dose vaccination event scheduled for Feb. 16.

Jason Millsaps, executive director of the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said LSFHC will push the vaccination event originally scheduled for Feb. 16 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds to Feb. 19 to allow the weather to stabilize. He said patients will receive an email from Lone Star, and the information will be shared on social media. LSFHC outlined the new dates and times on social media.

In addition, Millsaps said the county's vaccination call center for waitlist registration will not operate Feb. 15 or Feb. 16 to allow the office to operate on those days. The call center should resume operations Feb. 17, depending on the weather conditions, he said.

On Feb. 12, several road closures in the county had already been announced.

The office also posted cold weather tips for residents, including pipe and plant protection around the home.
