Conroe City Council Member Jody Czajkoski will face current Mayor Toby Powell in the race for city of Conroe mayor in May.

Czajkoski said he filed for the position on Feb. 14, which is the last day to file for a place on the general ballot. Election day is May 2.

"I think our city needs leadership, a vision and someone that has energy," he said. "I am tired of Conroe missing out on new business, restaurants and high income jobs because of politics and agendas ... I have the energy Conroe needs to become one of the most dynamic cities in the USA."

Czajkoski currently holds Place 5 in the council.
