Conroe city officials considered changing the speed limits on FM 830 and Longmire Road during a Feb. 8 workshop meeting.
During the meeting, City Engineer Chris Bogert presented two agenda items regarding a change in speed limits. Bogert said the Texas Department of Transportation contacted the city regarding a request for approximately 0.31 miles of FM 830 near William Lloyd Meador Elementary School. According to Bogert, this entails increasing the speed zone from 50 mph to 55 mph and adding in a school zone speed limit of 25 mph.
Similarly, Bogert presented another agenda item regarding a speed limit reduction on Longmire Road from Little Egypt to the end of the road. The proposal is to reduce the speed limit from 45 mph to 30 mph because a wedding venue was recently built on the stretch, Bogert said.
No action was taken during the meeting. These items are up for vote from council during the Feb. 9 City Council meeting.
