Local nonprofit Hope’s Bridge Resource Center will be holding a donation event between Aug. 20-25 for over 300 children placed in foster, adoption or kinship placements.
“With community support we will provide 5-10 school outfits per child, a pair of shoes, and a [backpack] with school supplies,” Executive Director Julie Davis said in an email. “This will go a long way at helping these children feel and maintain a sense of normalcy in a pretty dark position.”
According to Treasurer and Assistant Director Kristi Hayes, the event will take place at 10461 Commerce Row, Ste. 101, Montgomery from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 20-25. On Aug. 23, however, the event will be open from 2-4p.m.
Community members can support the event by donating school supplies or providing funds to help cover the cost of a backpack filled with school supplies for children. According to Hayes, supplies for one child cost between $40-$60.
Donations can be made on the organization’s website, delivered in person at the organization’s office located at 10461 Commerce Row, Ste. 101, Montgomery, or mailed to Hope’s Bridge, P.O. Box 1901, Montgomery. To volunteer for the August event, sign up here by midnight Aug. 19.
