Montgomery County commissioners will meet for the first time in 2025 on Jan. 7 with Ritch Wheeler joining the court for the first time as Precinct 3 commissioner.

According to the meeting agenda, which was posted online on Jan. 3, commissioners will look at extending a disaster declaration for a tornado which moved through the New Caney and Porter areas Dec. 28 as well as authorizing 91 acres of land for the staging of storm debris relating to the tornado.
Wheeler is also seeking to rename the new South Montgomery County Library and Community Center, which is currently under construction by Howard Hughes.
