How we got here
The Lake Conroe Park was closed on Jan. 1 following the expiration of a 30-year agreement between the SJRA, the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Commissioner's Office and the Texas Parks and Wildlife agency.
Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker said that at the time, the expense of operating and maintaining the park had grown outside the funding available to his office.
Since the closure, the SJRA board of directors has discussed the future of the park and as of Sept. 26 is now seeking outside input from the public and private enterprises for a potential partnership.
“Our board of directors supports enhancing the current site and wants to ensure that Lake Conroe Park provides opportunities for memorable experiences for those who visit the park," SJRA General Manager Aubrey Spear said in the news release.

Quote of note

What's next?
As of press time, there is no timeline available regarding when a reopening of the Lake Conroe Park could occur. No deadline has been set by the SJRA regarding the submission of proposals, but they will be brought before the board for further discussion at future meetings according to the release.
