Voters have approved Montgomery ISD's voter-approval tax rate election, according to Montgomery ISD's Communications Coordinator Stephanie Wells and unofficial results from Montgomery County.
Results show 15,627 voted in favor of the VATRE, while 15,318 voted against the measure to secure $5.5 million in additional revenue as as the district faces a nearly $4.3 million budget shortfall for fiscal year 2024-25.
"This is a huge win for our students and staff and consistent with our community’s continued support of our schools. We have a long history of investing in students and schools to ensure that Montgomery ISD remains a premier district," board President Board President Matt Fuller said in a news release.
